28s’ers, I have some really exciting news to share with you all.

As you’ve heard me say before, in my 17 years as a personal trainer I know the key to becoming the best version of you is both quality training paired with the right nutrition. It’s why I created 28 by Sam Wood and today’s program provides a huge range of workouts and recipes to ensure 28ers of all levels reach their goals.

Many of you have seen or experienced Sarah Wilson’s I Quit Sugar 8-Week Program and the many recipes available on the IQS blog. Since the beginning of IQS I have admired Sarah as an innovator, fighting the good fight to help people lead healthier lives by cutting out refined sugar.

As Sarah takes her next step beyond IQS, I’m excited to announce that 28 by Sam Wood has become the sole custodian of all the IQS recipes, adding even more choice and variety to our successful program. With the passing of the torch from Sarah we will continue the amazing accomplishments IQS has already achieved. We also hope it will help us take one step closer in the global movement towards reducing the amount of refined sugar in our diets.

The reality is, Australia is in the grip of an obesity crisis and with over 62% of Australians currently over-weight or obese, the finger is being pointed at sugar as the culprit. The statistics are alarming and cannot be ignored.

The average Australian consumes fourteen teaspoons of added sugar a day. The World Health Organisation recommends we consume no more than six teaspoons a day.
Over a third of these added sugars are found in commonly perceived ‘healthy’ foods. Sugar is hidden in almost 80% of foods on our supermarket shelves.

The 28 food philosophy has and always will remain the same – ‘Just Eat Real Food’. This means filling our diets with wholefoods and nutritious ingredients, staying away from the labelled products that are inevitably packed with hidden nasties. When we just eat real food, we naturally exclude added sugars from our diet and reduce the dangers that come with it. When it comes to nutrition, variety is the spice of life and the addition of these IQS recipes will not only continue to help 28ers progress towards their goals but provide even more low-sugar options so that we continue to work towards reducing the amount of added sugar we have in our homes.

The free IQS recipes currently available on the IQS blog will remain freely available, so head to the 28 blog and new Recipe Vault to have a look. The recipes that formed Sarah’s I Quit Sugar 8-Week Program are being integrated into our 28 program and will compliment the existing 28 recipes, you can find these in the 28 Locker.

As of the 21st of May, there be hundreds of recipes available through 28. However, bringing all of the recipes across will take us a few more weeks, so in the meantime, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact the 28 Crew, and look out for some delicious new recipes added to your meal plan. Snez and I have been in the kitchen sampling some of the new additions, I know you’re going to love them!

So, from one SW to another, I’d like to say thank you Sarah and wishing you all the best for what the future holds.
