Protein this and protein that! Protein supplements seem to be everywhere, you’re encouraged to put it in your smoothies, to make snacks with it. We know we need it, but what is the big hype around protein?? Here’s four reasons why we advise getting a healthy amount of protein in every meal.

  • It keeps you full

Protein is a macronutrient that makes you feel full! As opposed to foods that are high in fats and carbs, you need a much lower quantity of foods that are high in protein to feel full – which is one of the reasons it’s great in aiding weight loss.
  • It aids in strength and recovery

A large percentage of every cell in your body is made from protein, so it makes sense that protein plays a huge role is repairing, recovering and adapting your muscles after training!
  • Protein cells act as enzymes

Protein cells help many essential chemical reactions that occur in the human body by acting as enzymes. This means they are involved in everything from respiration and digesting food, all the way through to making sure your nerves and liver are functioning properly!
  • Oxygen

One of the elements of your blood that is in fact a protein is a little something called Hemoglobin. This nifty protein is responsible for transporting oxygen in your blood, from the lungs to all the different parts of the body it is required – to your organs, muscles, everywhere!
