Wish you could be a bit more productive? The best way to do it (especially in the chillier weather) is to start your day off right. It can be easy to get buried in a sea of commitments and difficult challenges where it seems less productive and more overwhelming. But if you have the right morning routine, you can face work with a clear mind and attitude.
We all have the same 24 hours in a day, but how we use our time is up to us. A morning routine can help you get more done in a day, so you can feel like you’re making progress toward your goals!
Here are our five tips to improve your morning routine:
1. Start with a positive mindset
The first step to having a productive morning routine is to get your head in the right place. We always say “get your mind in the right place and your body will follow”. This can be as simple as making sure that you’re starting your day with a positive mindset and focusing on what you want to accomplish rather than what you don’t want to happen. Try thinking of 3 things you’re grateful for (especially if you wake up usually feeling pretty grouchy!) and see how it makes you feel. If you’re struggling with motivation, try writing down your goals and reviewing them before getting out of bed.
2. Set small goals in the morning
Set achievable goals for yourself before you start your day. Write down what you want to accomplish or what you need to get done. Don’t get too caught up in ticking everything off the list, but think about celebrating each task as a little win throughout the day! This will help keep you focused and grateful throughout the day and prevent distractions from taking over your morning routine.
3. Get in a workout (and or a meditation)
Exercise or meditate before starting work for the day — even if it’s just for five minutes! You can access plenty of great bite-sized meditations and work outs on our amazing 28 By Sam Wood app. This will help clear your mind and get rid of any stress that may have built up overnight or during your commute into work (if there was one). You might also find that exercising helps increase productivity by increasing alertness.
4. Eat breakfast
Eating breakfast is crucial because it gives your body energy and nutrients needed to function properly throughout the day. Plus, it prevents overeating later in the day when hunger strikes again (which often leads to snacking on unhealthy foods). If you’re feeling stuck on what to eat for brekkie, head over to our 28 By Sam Wood app for lots of easy (and yummy) breakfast ideas!
5. Drink water first thing in the morning.
Drinking water first thing in the morning will help you hydrate and clear out any toxins that may have built up overnight. Our bodies are typically dehydrated after being at rest all night. Drink a glass of water first thing before eating anything so that the water has time to absorb into your system and start working its magic!
A good morning routine is one of the best ways to kickstart your day. The time you spend in the morning sets the tone for the rest of your day, and it can have a big impact on how productive you are. Give these tips a try and see how you can change the energy of your day!
